For those of you who know me, have been following me for any length of time, you know a few things about me:
- I love data
- I love marketing
- I love data that supports marketing and tells us what’s really working and what’s just “hype.”
So when Ihad the chance to hear Dan Zarrella’s presentation about The Science of Social Media” I was excited to hear what would remain fact nd what would be proven to be fiction.
Lesson #1: It’s all about the content.
Bill Gates said it long ago “Content is King.” This is even more paramount in the new age of Google’s Panda update where it’s not just enough to provide content; you must provide high caliber, useful, relevant content.
The same is true, according to Zarrella’s recent research, of social media. Providing tweets and posts that give your followers and friends useful information are more valuable (viral) than those that don’t (read: what your day was like; how the conference you’re attending is, etc.)
So, how can you create good content? How can your content create value? Share your thoughts! Share this article with others!
